Support for war-affected students

  • Peer support and psychological counseling is availabe for all students experiencing anxiety, depression, sleep problems, etc.
  • Food Pantry provids staple food to students experiencing temporary food instability.
  • Emergency Care Fund for students in need of minor financial assistance for an unexpected expense.  It is cash-based and funded by generous donations from staff and faculty.    

Summer and Fall Housing

SUMMER HOUSING IS FREE FOR UKRAINIAN STUDENTS. LCC will provide up to 4 months of free housing on campus (between May 2 and August 27). Please be sure to register for your summer housing ASAP through Erezlife https://lcc.erezlife.com/. The SFS Office will administer the funds, focusing on war-affecting students. The funds will come from our Ukraine Emergency Fund. Students from Russia and Belarus: If you have emergency needs due to your current economic situation and if you have no other options, please contact the SFS Office at sfs@lcc.lt regarding eligibility for Emergency Aid which can now be used to help with summer housing.

FALL 2022. If you need assistance in paying the housing deposit by March 30, you may apply for funding from the McQuaig DPP (Deferred Payment Plan) Fund. The total annual limit on this fund to 1200 EUR, https://forms.gle/w88T8kWzBCrzrYqW7.   Remember that the repayment deadline is still July 15. If paid before the deadline (by the end of the working day on July 14), a 10% grace discount is applied.  Deadline to apply is March 23.

Ukraine Care Initiative

Ukraine Care Initiative. UCI is a student-led initiative formed in February 2022 in response to the war in Ukraine. Their goal is to centrally coordinate all of the related activities initiated by LCC students, provide support, fundraise, and direct other to trusted information and resources. They collaborate with the city municipality, Ukrainian Community Center ‘Rodyna’, etc. This student group is led by a team of 8 Ukrainian and Russian students who are serving in multiple ways to provide care and support to those impacted both in and out of our LCC community. By early March, over 50 students had served through UCI.

Projects under UCI

  1. Ukrainian Aid Information Center – Olia Ivanova (oivanov@student.lcc.lt)
  • Assisting Klaipeda locals and refugees in obtaining answers and resources
  • Ongoing fundraising: bottles collection campaign, cash donations, and information about the possibility of financial contributions to alternative organizations supporting Ukrainians. The contributed funds will be used to purchase the necessary items for refugees arriving in Lithuania.
  • Volunteering opportunities: the center welcomes any Lithuanian, Ukrainian, Russian-speaking people willing to sign up for short shifts
  • Our Ukrainian Aid Information Center is located at Atgimimo aikste. It is open Monday through Sunday 12:00 – 18:00.

2. Children Support Initiative – Hryhorii Probytiuk (hprobyt19@students.lcc.lt)

  • Organizing the ongoing socializing activities for Ukrainian children arriving to Klaipeda from the affected war zones
  • Providing support and assistance to families who arrive with children

Volunteer opportunities

The Salvation Army in Klaipeda is looking for volunteers to serve with Ukrainian children arriving in Klaipeda. This is a wonderful opportunity to serve children and extend hospitality. Helpdesk of the Order of Malta – Maltese invite to provide voluntary assistance to the people of Ukraine in Lithuania. Registration form: bit.ly/3pE062S

Save the Children Lithuania invites to provide voluntary assistance to Ukrainian children and pregnant women. Registration form: bit.ly/3HAKgfK

StiprusKartu, the civic initiative calls for assistance to the Ukrainian people fleeing the war by providing housing (house, flat, room) in Lithuania. Registration form: bit.ly/3sH7Pzc

Refugee Info/help center in Klaipėda is looking for Ukrainian/Russian speakers who could help answer phone calls. They receive quite a bit number of calls but their staff/volunteers don’t speak Ukrainian or sometimes even Russian. Contact egle@klaipedaid.lt – she is in touch with the people running the helpline.

Resources for Ukrainians

We would like to inform you that a hotline has been installed in the call center of the Migration Department, which will be used to consult Ukrainians fleeing the war in their country to Lithuania. Consultations by phone No. +370 5 271 7112 are available every working day and weekends from 07:30 until 21:00.
